Board of Directorís Meeting
February 18, 2008
CALL TO ORDER: President Steve Sulzby called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Members present were: Steve Sulzby, John Killian, Donna Wenberg, Sue Fardette, Irma Johnson, Diane Sachs, Judy Carder, Louise Sperr, Bernard Mann, Fern Dunbar and Mark Tang. Frank Bartlett and Barbara Balowitz were excused.
Absent: Sharon Beran.
MINUTES: Donna made a motion to accept the minutes and Mark second it. The minutes were accepted.
GUEST REPORT Baum Harris and Bob Mault discussed that during the next ten years as the baby boomers enter retirement a great challenge to encourage them to play bridge will exist. A new Easy Bridge project is available from the ACBL that consists of publicity and classes that encourage less formal instruction that will have the students playing and discussing hands sooner. Bob is accredited to teach this. The publicity stresses the mental health benefits of bridge as well as the social aspect. Duplicate boards would be available on loan for new duplicate players to encourage them. A motion to have John and Sue act as liaisons with Baum to work on this project was proposed by Steve and seconded by Mark. The motion was passed. Free plays have been given out to encourage people to try our club. It was suggested that board members sign the back so a tally can be kept of how many are used.
TREASURERíS REPORT: Balance is $ 8614.90 as of Jan. 31. There was a net loss of $ 450.00 for the month.
HOSPITALITY: $30.00 was donated last month
SANCTIONS: Irma Johnson reported that the April 13th game has been sanctioned.
REFRESHMENTS: John Killian and friend will take care of the March Unit game. Keith and Susan Hafen will be in charge of Aprilís game. Linda Carder and Sherry Troeger will do the May game. In the future someone will be in charge of the pot luck luncheons to coordinate. Also any board members who are at the unit games should help in cleaning up. Donna or Irma will answer any questions Linda has about the refreshments for the unit games.
IN COORDINATOR: Steve Sulzby reported that the attendance at the Tuesday afternoon NLM lectures is good.
SECTIONAL: A discussion was held about continuing the 299 as 2 separate Swiss games. Steve will talk to his students on Tuesday about it.

AWARDS: The 13 individual plaques will be ordered. Also 15 license plates will be ordered.
ROSTER: no report.
NEW BUSINESS: A motion was passed to buy name tags for the board members. In the future name tags for club members might be available for purchase.
A motion was made, seconded and passed that the directors pay for unit games will be increased to $ 100.00. If two directors are necessary the payment will be discussed in the future.
